GTP/CN-Graham Subdivision MP 59.2-63.5 III

04 Mar

Video of the former Grand Trunk Pacific Railway-Lake Superior Division, Canadian Government Railways-Raith Subdivision, Canadian National Railways-Raith/Lake Superior/Graham/Raith/Graham Subdivision (MP 30.2-34.5) west of Raith, ON. Features the grade west of Raith Creek as it parallels the CPKC Kaministiquia Subdivision and Highway 17 and passes through a very heavily overgrown and neglected swamp and upland section. Includes a very rare concrete rail holder.
Part 3 of 10.

Active, 1908-1994.

As the years went by, the section crews got smaller. So the rail holders where not used and pushed down. We built rail stands(hold 5 or so rails) and used smaller rail to slide our rail onto the push car. Much easier. Usually at stations (James, Larson)

      Thanks for that information.
The rail holders are very rare to find. Usually they come in batches. The most I’ve seen so far is in the area between Reba and Sowden.
