Postagoni Bridge
Macdiarmid Tunnel Postagoni River Bridge Orient Bay Station
The Postagoni River Bridge (pronounced paws – TAH – gun – ee) is located just south of the communities of Macdiarmid/Biinjitiwaabik Zaaging Anishnabek at Milepost 37.6/87.3.
The bridge is 287 feet long, 55 feet high and its three deck plate spans rest on 2 concrete piers. Costing $103,000 ($1.5 million today), it was opened for traffic in 1924, shortly after nationalization and replaced an earlier wood trestle. Extensive renovations were done to the structure in the early 60s.
