Hello, I am a former railway police officer from Sudbury and I was wondering if you still have tracks there or were they removed? Are there trails there even with the tracks installed?

The tracks on this line were removed between 2008 and 2010. There were a few small sections of rails that were left in place such as this one since the CN/CP interlock was still being used after the rails were lifted. When the paper mill was shutdown, CP pulled up their rails, but the CN ones still remained as I guess they couldn’t be bothered to come back and get that small number of rails.

Maybe just contact the Yard Master in Hornepayne and request that track services remove them. All you can do is complain or maybe a few smart retired CP employees can help you out as the rail is worth the price of steel and maybe you can dump the ties or someone can use them in their garden patios.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don’t think that anyone is really bothered by these rails still in place.
Actually, as a historian, it is nice to see of the rails there to remind people of what was once part of the history of the area.
