Flett Tunnel Flett Stream Tunnel East Oskondaga River Bridge

The Flett Stream Tunnel is located just west of the Flett Tunnel at Milepost 40.7/11.5.

Constructed in 1919 by the Carter-Halls-Aldinger Company of Winnipeg, the “stream tunnel” likely replaced an original wood trestle. The creek in area was rerouted and a 10 foot by 10 foot tunnel was bored through the solid rock to carry the waterway under the grade. The tunnel was part of a $86,897 contract awarded in 1918 that called for the replacement of previous wooden trestles with more permanent structures, such as the Strawberry Creek Trestle.
