Sturgeon Lake Transportation Company
W.O. Junction/Clarkdon Station Sturgeon Lake Transportation Wako/Watcomb Station
Sturgeon Lake Transportation Company spur was located near Silver Dollar, ON at Milepost 155.3/126.1.
This 7 mile wye and spur was constructed in in 1947 by the Sturgeon Lake Transportation Company. It ran north from the grade west of Valora Station near Moss Lake to O’Brien’s Landing on Sturgeon Lake and was used to move logs from Sturgeon Lake to the mills at the Lakehead (O’Brien’s Landing was the terminus for the earlier Superior and Western Ontario Railway). Its capacity was 42 cars on the east leg of the wye and 53 cars on the west leg.
In 1958 the spur was taken over by the Great Lakes Lumber and Shipping Company and continued to be used until 1960.
