George Station Knowlton/Graham Station Oscar Station
Graham Station was a major stop on the line located near Graham, ON at Milepost 99.6/42.2/100.7/70.8.
It was originally called Knowlton, the second letter “n” being used to keep the typical alphabetical station naming structure used on Grand Trunk Pacific lines (Mack to the east, Oscar to the west). Named after George A. Knowlton, who was the chief engineer for the construction of the Lake Superior Branch, it was renamed Graham sometime in mid 1918, that name being taken from the original Graham Station, which was renamed Sioux Lookout.
In 1910, a GTP Type “E” station was built and by the 1920s its importance began to grow as it became the official halfway point of the line. In 1923, the coal and water facilities were shifted here from Oscar and the line was named after the station. In 1924, a wye was added, likely because it would become the divisional point for the Raith and Quorn subdivisions in 1925 (they were remerged into one line by 1931). The coal bunker was removed in 1933 and the water tank strangely in 1975. There was a post office at Graham from 1924 to 1980?
The station building, which was renovated in 1946, was likely removed when passenger service ended in the 1985 (possibly in the early 1990s). Graham, with its siding and wye remained on the line until it was abandoned in 1994.
