Alba

Moose’s Nose Alba Station Baird Station

Alba Station was located west of Fort William, ON (Now Thunder Bay) at Milepost 6.2/8.5/7.3.

For an unknown reason, Alba was not immediately added as a station (though it does show up on an early list of stations), appearing only in late 1910 or early 1911, and there seems to be some confusion to its location. Early timetables place it at Milepost 6.2 (7.3), but later it was moved to Milepost 8.5 between June 1916 and June 1917. There was no station located at Alba, but it was home to a 1888-foot siding. It was one of the two “A” named stations on the line, the other being Alcona.

There is no trace of the station in this area due to quarrying operations in later years. It was resurrected many decades later as a station on the nearby CN Kashabowie Subdivision, today being located at Milepost 7.5.

Just west of the Station at Milepost 10/11 was a water tank near a crossing of the Neebing River that was in use from prior to 1915 to 1921.
